SF Piano Works is a collective of independent piano technicians serving the San Francisco Bay Area. This policy explains what personal information we collect through sfpianoworks.com and when you contact us, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, contact us using the details at the end of this page.
Information we collect
When you request service. Our service request form asks for your first and last name, email address, phone number, region, the service you need, your preferred days and time for a visit, how you heard about us, and anything you choose to tell us about your piano.
When you call, text or email us. We receive your phone number or email address and the content of your message.
When you visit the website. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the time of your visit, in server logs used for security and troubleshooting. We do not use analytics or advertising tools, and this website does not set any cookies of its own.
How we use your information
We use the information you give us to respond to your request, match you with a technician who covers your region, arrange and carry out the work, and keep a record of your piano's service history so that each visit can pick up where the last one left off. We also use it to answer your questions and to keep the website secure. We will not add you to a marketing list without your permission.
Who we share it with
We share your information only as needed to provide the service you asked for:
- The technician who will serve you. Technicians in the collective run their own independent practices. The technician matched to your request receives your details so they can contact you and do the work.
- Our service coordinator and founder, and our affiliated company, Apollo Piano, which receives a copy of each service request to keep a record of every referral.
- Service providers that run our website hosting and email on our behalf, and that may only use your information to provide those services to us.
- Legal requirements. Where we are required to do so by law, or to protect our rights, our clients or the public.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own advertising or marketing.
Third-party services and links
This website loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when your browser requests those files. Our pages also link to other websites, including Google Maps, Yelp and Apollo Piano. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your information.
How long we keep it
We keep service requests and related messages for as long as they are useful for serving your piano, including its service history, and for as long as we need them to meet legal, tax or accounting obligations. You can ask us to delete them sooner, as described below.
How we protect it
This website uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and access to service requests is limited to the people who need them to arrange and carry out your service. No method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure, but we take reasonable care to protect what you share with us.
Your choices
You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Send your request to the email address or phone number below and we will respond within a reasonable time. Depending on where you live, including California, you may have additional rights under state privacy law, and we will honor requests made under those laws.
Do Not Track
Some browsers can send a Do Not Track signal. This website does not track visitors over time or across other websites, so it works the same way whether or not that signal is turned on.
Children
This website is intended for adults arranging piano service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us their information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and change the effective date at the top.
